Privacy Policy

Status: DRAFT — requires review by a qualified data protection practitioner before publication. Placeholders in square brackets must be completed before this policy is relied upon.

Draft revised: 30 July 2026. This date changes to a publication date once the policy has been reviewed and the controller details below are filled in.

1. Who is responsible for your data

The data controller for this website is [CONTROLLER LEGAL NAME], [ADDRESS], Ireland.

How to reach us. This project operates no mailing list and holds no e-mail address for anyone in the audience, so the contact route is our official Telegram channel: [TELEGRAM LINK]. A request made there reaches the controller directly.

To be completed before launch: GDPR requires a controller to be contactable. A messaging channel is a valid route, but a postal address is required in any case and must be filled in above. Confirm with the practitioner whether an e-mail address must also be published for this purpose, notwithstanding that the project runs no mailing list.

2. What we collect, and why

We collect as little as possible. There is no mailing list, no advertising, no profiling, and no selling of data to anyone. Browsing this site requires no account and leaves us no personal data about you.

We do not ask where you live and hold no e-mail address for anyone in the audience. There is no country field and no address field: nothing here asks for either, so neither is collected.

If you comment publicly on one of our videos:

We read the comments under our own videos on the platforms where we publish, so that questions addressed to us can be answered. Most comments are discarded within the same second they are read: a filter keeps only what appears to be a question addressed to the project, and everything else — conversations between viewers, reactions, remarks not directed at us — is counted and dropped without being stored.

When a comment is kept, we store the text of that comment, the display name the platform shows against it, and a link back to it. We may hold a translation of it into Russian so that the person answering can read it.

Our lawful basis here is legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR): answering a question asked of us in public. We have weighed this against your interests and concluded it is limited and expected — the comment is already public, we keep only what is addressed to us, and the only use we make of it is to reply to you in the same place you wrote. We do not build a profile, do not link comments across platforms or over time, and do not use them for anything other than answering.

A reply we post is written by a person and translated; nothing on our side composes an answer automatically.

You can object to this at any time — see section 6 — and we will delete the stored comment.

Analytics. We use Vercel Analytics, which is cookieless and does not build a profile of individual visitors or track them across sites.

If you are a member of production staff: the private editorial workspace needs an account, and signing in records your e-mail address, your IP address and your browser's user-agent string against the session. The IP address is also counted against failed sign-in attempts, which is what stops the workspace from being brute-forced. This applies only to the handful of people with accounts — watching an episode or reading these pages creates no such record.

3. What we never do

  • We never sell, rent, or share your details with advertisers or data brokers.
  • We never send you marketing. There is no mailing list to be added to.
  • We never require an account to watch an episode or read anything here.
  • We never use a comment for anything other than replying to it, and never link comments to build a picture of a person.

4. How long we keep things

DataRetention
Kept comments and our replies12 months after the reply is published, then deleted
Comments the filter discardedNot stored at all — only a count is kept
Staff sign-in records (IP, user agent)Deleted when the session expires; failed-attempt counters clear within the day

5. Where your data is held

Our processors are:

ProcessorRoleLocation of processing
Vercel Inc.Website hosting, content delivery, and Vercel AnalyticsUnited States, with a global delivery network
Neon Inc.Database hosting (the records described above)United States (us-east-1)
Anthropic PBCTranslating questions we have kept into Russian, and translating our replies back into your languageUnited States

Anthropic processes the text of a kept comment and the text of our reply. It receives no display name, no link and nothing else about you, and the text is not used to train models under Anthropic's commercial terms.

Your data is processed in the United States, not in the EEA. Transfers rely on the EU–US Data Protection Framework and on the Standard Contractual Clauses in each processor's data processing agreement.

To be completed before launch: the exact transfer mechanism must be confirmed against the current Vercel and Neon data processing agreements and named here. If the database is moved to an EU region before the first comment is recorded, this section must be corrected to say so.

6. Your rights

Under GDPR you can, at any time:

  • Access the data we hold about you.
  • Correct it if it is wrong.
  • Delete it ("right to be forgotten").
  • Port your data to another service in a machine-readable form.
  • Object to processing, or ask us to restrict it.

To exercise any of these, write to us in our official Telegram channel ([TELEGRAM LINK]). We respond within one month.

Everything described here rests on legitimate interest, not on consent, so there is no consent to withdraw — you object instead, and we delete what we hold.

You also have the right to complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie) if you believe we have handled your data unlawfully.

7. Children

The series is intended for adult audiences. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16. If you believe we have stored a comment written by one, tell us in our Telegram channel ([TELEGRAM LINK]) and we will delete the record.

8. Changes to this policy

The date at the top always reflects the current version. Because we hold no mailing list, changes are announced on this page and through the public channels listed on the site rather than by email.
